Bristol, Clifton Magician

I recently performed in Clifton for a 50th birthday party. I performed at the Avon Gorge Hotel, which overlooks the great Clifton Suspension Bridge. There were about 50 people at the party, all seated around tables. I performed between the courses of the meal and had lots of fun with the attendees who were all out for a great night!

Here’s a brief extract from the email I received from the person who booked me:

“Thanks for making the party such a success: all the guests were amazed at your performance and have been talking about it ever since.” -Rick Sellers

I perform a lot in Bristol and will be returning several times over the next few weeks!

Cirencester Magician

Over Christmas, I performed for Moore, Allen and Innocent; a Gloucestershire-based company. I performed magic during their Christmas meal at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester. Here’s a note that I received from the organiser of the party:

Just a quick note to thank you for your fantastic demonstration of dexterity and magic at our Christmas luncheon in December. Without doubt you made the event extra, extra special and even the sceptics amongst us (yes, there are the odd ones!) were speechless as each trick unfolded. As each table was spellbound and the whoops and rounds of applause grew, other tables craned their necks to see what all the fuss was about – and this was revealed as you captivated each table with your craft!

Someone came up to me recently and spoke about the luncheon and how one of the tricks was “not possible” and concluded, rather ruefully that it was indeed magic.A great event made even better by a great magician! -Keith Winmill

Hereford Magician

Last weekend I returned to Hereford to perform close-up magic at a birthday party. This time, I performed at the Merton Hotel in the centre of Hereford.

There were about 75 people of all ages at the party and the audience were all incredibly nice. As some guests were standing in a reception room and others were sat at tables in another room, it gave me the perfect opportunity to perform both styles of magic that I enjoy. My job is to make sure everyone at a party has a great time, which is always helped when I’m having fun myself!

Here’s a brief extract of a really nice email that I received from the hosts of the incredibly successful party:

“Thank you for such wonderful entertainment last Saturday evening. Everyone enjoyed the magic… even those who do not normally want to watch! We had so many compliments about you and how good you were!”
—Sally and Paul, Hereford
Derbyshire Magician

This Saturday I made my way up to Derbyshire to perform at a party for about 100 people, who filled various rooms of a really nice restaurant. Derby is a reasonable drive for me, but it was well worth it as everyone at the party was really nice and up for a good time.

Here’s a brief extract from Alicia, the lady who hired me to perform at the party:

“You went down a storm, Andi! Made the party much more enjoyable. Thank you so much for a very entertaining evening. You are wonderful entertainer!”
—Alicia Turnock, Derbyshire

Once I had finished work for the night, I was invited to stay around for some food. As I was eating a bread roll, I got caught off guard by a table who demanded an encore! Not wanting to disappoint them, I put my roll down, had someone write his name on the card and shuffled it into the deck. “It would be amazing if my card ended up in your bread roll,” the man quipped. He was right … it would be amazing. I didn’t say another word; instead I just nodded down at the roll and allowed him to pick it up and do the rest. The table went crazy, the guy wanted to keep the roll and the signed card so I left on a high … and very hungry!

Sozo Design – Cheltenham

I recently performed for Sozo Design, a Cheltenham-based web agency who were celebrating their tenth anniversary. The party was hosted in a marque in Cheltenham, where I performed walkaround magic and then magic at the tables during dinner. The attendees were a lot of fun and I really enjoyed performing for them. Given that there were a lot of business owners at the party, I received a lot of interest for me to perform at future events, which is always a nice compliment.

Here’s an extract from an email that I got today from James, the chap from Sozo who hired me:

“Thank you. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was blown away by your ability and skill. Thank you so much for coming along to the party and entertaining us.”
—James Hutt, Sozo Design, Cheltenham

And here’s a nice photo of me entertaining James and some other team members:

Cobham Magician

During the Farnborough Air Show a couple of weeks ago, I was invited by AMI Metals to entertain their American CEO and some of their most prestigious clients from around the world.

Cobham MagicianI performed close-up magic in the private room of a restaurant and then moved on to perform close-up magic for the delegates during their meal. I realise that these events are incredibly important for companies like AMI Metals and therefore ensure that I performed the best magic I could to create an evening that their clients will never forget.

One of their clients noticed me from a television show that recently re-aired in America and lots of other clients were incredibly complimentary about my magic. In fact, here’s what the gentleman that booked me had to say after my performance:

“Andi, just a quick note from AMI Metals to say thank you! We set you a tough task to entertain our guests from all over the globe and I have to say your performance was perfect and just what we needed. All the guests commented what a fantastic evening they had and we are already looking to use you in Paris next year, look forward to working with you again.”
—Lee Turner, AMI Metals

Due to my past career before becoming a professional magician, I am more than comfortable being a representative of companies and talking to important company players and key clients. Therefore, please get in touch if you’d like me to represent your company too!

Gloucester Magician Aboard!

A couple of weekends ago I was invited to perform onboard the King Arthur sailing from Gloucester Docks. The boat sailed along the River Severn while eighty or so guests enjoyed the party put on to celebrate my client’s 70th birthday party.

Close-up magicians often say that close-up magic events tend to blur into one, but I disagree: when you have unique opportunities to perform in different situations and venues, it really makes a show memorable and fun. The boat was full of people of various ages and it was a lot of fun to perform for the guests while the boat was sailing down the Severn.

Here’s a quick message I got from Sue, the lady who had organised me to perform on the boat:

“Andi, you were great, everyone really enjoyed your magic!! Thanks for contributing to a super day!”
—Sue, Gloucester
Staines Magician

This weekend I performed at a 50th birthday party in Staines. Another close-up magician recommended me for the party, which is always a nice compliment.

Dave (the man celebrating his birthday) and his friends were a lot of fun to perform for. They were extremely complimentary and really enjoyed getting involved in the magic. They were seated on very long tables, which some magicians will tell you isn’t a great environment for magic. However, I used my usual tactic of performing a trick for the entire table, then walked around performing close-up magic for three or four people at a time, finishing off with having everyone on the table pick a card … and then finding everyone’s card in rapid succession! It worked a treat, everyone got to see a lot of close-up magic and we all had a lot of fun!

Here’s what Dave posted on my website after the show:

“I would just like to say a huge thank you for making my 50th such a night to remember! My friends were as amazed as I was and are finding it hard to figure out just how you do what you do right in front of our eyes. Very entertaining!”
—Dave Wilson
Hereford Magician Feedback

Here’s a nice snippet from an email that I received after entertaining at a birthday party in the Hereford area a couple of weeks ago. I performed close-up magic for a group of friends who were on holiday in the area, celebrating a birthday.

“Thank you very much for entertaining us on Saturday evening. You were so clever!! My friends and I were very impressed indeed and are still talking about you and your magic.” —Sally Naish

London Magician – Feedback

When you’re hiring a magician, it’s vital that the magician understands that he or she is a representative of your brand. Along those lines, here’s some great feedback from a company I recently worked for in London:

“Having used several magicians in the past, I hired Andi to perform magic at an important media event we hosted in London. We were delighted with the results. As a performer Andi was charming and the various styles of magic he used truly captivating. He has a great sense for his audience, provided excellent support from start to finish, and was diligent in discussing our preferences and priorities for our guests on the night.

“We would be keen to use Andi again when we next require an entertainer. I would have no hesitation in recommending Andi Gladwin’s services – he’s doing everything right to become a very popular act”.
