Gloucestershire Magician

This weekend, I performed at an event in Newham-on-Severn, Gloucestershire. The downside of being a Gloucestershire magician is the amount of traveling I have to do, so I love working close to home! To be able to finish a show and then be home 20 minutes later is a joy that can’t be explained in words!

Last Sunday I performed at a garden party in Newham-on-Severn, Gloucestershire. Guests were mingling in the garden and sat at tables, enjoying the buffet. Here’s a quick note that I received the next day from Chris, the organiser of the party:

Thanks for working your magic at my garden party, strolling from group to group and captivating even the most cynical of our guests. Your card tricks were stunning, and the “dice in a box” trick had everyone baffled!

Stroud Magician

I recently performed magic in Stroud for a 30th birthday party. I was the surprise element of the party and performed for a couple of hours, mingling with the guests. At several points in the evening, I had almost everyone at the party crowding around me as I performed magic for the birthday girl. It was a lot of fun!

Here’s a brief extract from an email I received from the lady that booked me:

Andi, you were wonderful at our daughter’s 30th birthday party. Truly magic – all our friends with us that evening are still talking about your great tricks, done right under their noses, you really amazed them! We will be calling on you again for our next special party. Many thanks. — Mandy Free, Stroud

The photograph below is halfway through a trick at the party, where I turn the deck of cards into a solid block of glass … whilst someone is holding it!

Cirencester Magician

Over Christmas, I performed for Moore, Allen and Innocent; a Gloucestershire-based company. I performed magic during their Christmas meal at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester. Here’s a note that I received from the organiser of the party:

Just a quick note to thank you for your fantastic demonstration of dexterity and magic at our Christmas luncheon in December. Without doubt you made the event extra, extra special and even the sceptics amongst us (yes, there are the odd ones!) were speechless as each trick unfolded. As each table was spellbound and the whoops and rounds of applause grew, other tables craned their necks to see what all the fuss was about – and this was revealed as you captivated each table with your craft!

Someone came up to me recently and spoke about the luncheon and how one of the tricks was “not possible” and concluded, rather ruefully that it was indeed magic.A great event made even better by a great magician! -Keith Winmill

Gloucester Magician Aboard!

Jul/10

A couple of weekends ago I was invited to perform onboard the King Arthur sailing from Gloucester Docks. The boat sailed along the River Severn while eighty or so guests enjoyed the party put on to celebrate my client’s 70th birthday party.

Close-up magicians often say that close-up magic events tend to blur into one, but I disagree: when you have unique opportunities to perform in different situations and venues, it really makes a show memorable and fun. The boat was full of people of various ages and it was a lot of fun to perform for the guests while the boat was sailing down the Severn.

Here’s a quick message I got from Sue, the lady who had organised me to perform on the boat:

“Andi, you were great, everyone really enjoyed your magic!! Thanks for contributing to a super day!”

Wedding Magician Gloucester

Looking for a great way to entertain guests at your wedding? There are hundreds of Gloucester weddings happening every year and I’m always happy to be on hand to create an amazing experience every single time. If you’re getting married in the Cotswolds, Gloucester, Cheltenham or anywhere else in Gloucestershire, I’d love to be part of making your wedding fun and memorable.

Here are a few reasons why I think I’m the perfect choice for a Gloucester wedding magician:

  • I live in Gloucester so can easily help out at the last minute.
  • I have performed at most of the Gloucester wedding venues and know them (and often their staff) well.
  • I have been featured on Gloucestershire radio stations and in Gloucestershire newspapers and websites.
  • I have testimonials from many people in Gloucestershire and would be happy to put you in touch with other Gloucester-based couples if you’d like to ask them questions about my performance.
  • I am one of a select few professional Gloucester wedding magicians
  • I don’t charge travel expenses so am often a little more inexpensive than magicians who have to travel to your wedding in Gloucester.

Real Gloucester Magician

If you search on Google for “Gloucester Magician” you’ll be surprised to see twenty or thirty magicians advertising as Gloucester-based magicians. However, these magicians aren’t based in Gloucestershire; they simply have lots of pages on their site covering all different areas in the country allowing them to pretend to be from any part of the country.

If you’d like to hire a genuine Gloucester-based close-up magician, look no further! I am based just outside of Gloucester and regularly perform at most Gloucester and Cheltenham venues. Being a regular at such venues means that as soon as I arrive at your event, I am ready to start performing, know exactly where everything is and even have gotten to know the staff at many of the venues. This makes everything run that little bit smoother.

So look out for imitations; there’s only one professional close-up magician in this town!

Want to see me and some other fantastic magicians perform live in a cabaret magic show in Cheltenham? If so, act quickly as tickets are selling fast!

An Evening of Deception is a one-off magic show running on 28th April 2010. I’ve put on a host of my favourite magicians and we’re all performing cabaret magic in the intimate studio space at The Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham.

With only a few tickets left, it’s set to be a great show and I’m confident that tickets will sell out way before the show. See the An Evening of Deception page for more info!

Off the back of a week where I was in Newcastle, London, Sussex and Manchester, it was nice to be able to perform as a close-up magician close to home in Gloucestershire!

Magician at Hatherley Manor, Gloucestershire

Hatherley Manor is just ten minutes from my house and is always a nice venue for a magician to perform at. In fact, this time, two close-up magicians performed there! Laithwaite Wines (a major wine merchant) contacted me through my website and wanted me to arrange for two close-up magicians to perform at their staff party.

I arranged everything within a day of them contacting me and performed at the party last week. Everyone seemed to really enjoy having magicians at the party and a couple of tables in particular invited us back to perform for them again; that’s always a good sign that a magician is doing a good job! Here’s a brief extract from an email that the organiser sent me after the party:

“A HUGE thank you for performing your amazing magic at our party. Everyone had a great time and a having a magician there really added to the event!”
Kath, Laithwaite Wines

If you’re looking for a Gloucestershire close-up magician (or in fact a magician in any county!), definitely let me know!

No Business Like Snow Business

Jan/10

Here in Gloucester we’ve been hit pretty badly by the recent snowfall. There’s still about eight inches of snow surrounding my house (think of it as a frozen moat), making it a complete nightmare to get out! The heavy snow in this area made last night’s trek to the Cotswolds to perform as a close-up magician a tough job; but I made it!

Magician in the Cotwolds

I performed magic at the launch party of a pharmaceutical company at the Four Pillars Hotel in the Cotswold Water Park, just outside of Gloucester. It was the first time I’ve performed as a close-up magician at this venue, but definitely hope to perform there again. It’s modern, nicely designed and a perfect environment for a magician to perform. The people at the party really enjoyed my magic and I had a lot of fun performing for them. It was a small event of about 60 people, which is always fun to work at.

Next week is a crazy week as I travel all around the country (Manchester, Newcastle, Sussex, London and more) — it’s unlikely that I’ll actually return home at all for about a week, starting this coming Thursday … that’s the fun life of a close-up magician!

I’ll be sure to post updates on the road. Firstly though, I have to organise a conference for magicians starting this weekend (more on that in my next post).
